About

Safe Environment

Every person who enters our churches — especially every child and vulnerable adult — has the right to be safe. Here is how we protect that right.

Our parishes follow the safe environment protocols of the Diocese of Kamloops. Volunteers and staff who work with children, youth, or vulnerable adults complete screening, training, and a criminal record check before they begin, and ministries operating with risk follow the diocesan General Risk Protocol.

Reporting abuse

If you or someone you know has been harmed by anyone in a church setting, please report it. The Diocese of Kamloops maintains a protocol for responding to allegations of abuse, available at rcdk.org under 'Creating a Safe Environment', including how to contact the diocesan responsible ministry coordinator directly.

If a child is in immediate danger, call 911. Reports of harm to a child can also be made to the BC Ministry of Children and Family Development at 1-800-663-9122 at any time.
