About this church
St. Benedict's Church stands at Ntsla'ko, at the head of Okanagan Lake on the lands of the Okanagan Indian Band. Sunday Mass is celebrated here at 1:00 PM, and adoration is held on the first Friday of each month.
Catholic life at the head of the lake reaches back to the earliest days of the faith in this valley. Oblate missionaries entered the Okanagan in 1859, and St. Ann's Church at the nearby O'Keefe Ranch was completed in 1889 — decades before any church stood in Vernon itself.
Today St. Benedict's remains a close-knit community within the family of Vernon-area parishes, sharing clergy, ministries, and celebrations with St. James, Our Lady of the Valley, and Sacred Heart.
